River to Clouds Route: Instructions on Passing Thru Lula Lake's Core Preserve
A permit is required to connect through Lula Lake Land Trust’s Core Preserve via mountain bike or by foot.

The River to Clouds Route (RCR) is a 36-mile trail that connects the Guild-Hardy Trail to Cloudland Canyon State Park. This route includes passing thru LLLT's Moonshine Trail and Core Preserve trail systems. While there is no permit required to recreate on LLLT's Moonshine Trail network portion of this long-distance trail, a permit IS required to pass thru LLLT's Core Preserve property.
Permits are $5 for ONE PERSON for ONE DAY ONLY. Each user MUST obtain a permit to utilize this section of trail. Permit users must stay on the RCR (which does NOT include access to LLLT's lake and waterfalls). You cannot park your vehicle at the LLLT Core Preserve or along the roadside of Lula Lake Rd. Entry by mountain bike or by foot only. During Open Gate Days (public access days), users must stop at the LLLT kiosk to show their permit to LLLT Check-in staff. The continuance for public use of the RCR Pass Thru Permit System traversing Lula Lake's Core Preserve section is dependent on the public adherence of the protocols set forth. Please be good stewards.
This permit ONLY provides access through LLLT's Core Preserve. Not all RCR landowners require permits. Users should research trail closures or permits for any other properties through which you are traveling.
The Lula Lake Core Preserve section of the River to Clouds Route is very technically challenging in both directions for hikers and riders. Those who choose to explore this trail by riding your bike, anticipate several hike a bike sections and please follow proper trail etiquette by yielding to ascending hikers.
PLEASE PRINT MAP AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. The RCR Pass Thru trail will be marked with green diamond blazes.
